The Oriskany Fire Department is 100 % VOLUNTEER. Thats right, volunteer. None of our members are paid to respond to calls for service. Our only compensation is the satisfaction of knowing we guard every neighbor and protect their property, whenever flames may rage.
We train to the same standards as paid "professional" firefighters. In fact, these standards are used throughout New York State so no matter if you're in the big city or a little town, the firefighters are trained at the same level.
